As is the case anywhere in the world, when you’re in a city be cautious. Don’t carry valuables openly. If you must carry your passport and money, keep well- concealed in a buttoned-down pocket or money belt. When walking in cities you may want to consider using two wallets. Hide one with the bulk of your cash, traveler’s checks, credit cards and other essential items in a safe place on your person. Fill the second wallet with a small amount of money to use for routine spending, Avoid money in public. This will cause the unwanted attention of potential thieves.
Until recently, the political climate in East Africa has been very stable for a number of years.
